Cool Week

No pun intended in the title, it´s been pretty chilly down here in San Rafael. But that doesn´t stop us from doing work. This week I actually had one of the most spiritual experiences of the mission so far...

So it was Wednesday and we had a lesson with the Flia Alonzo, like normal. Elder Bingham really had to pee so we went back to the pench. I have been trying to recognize the spirit more in my life, and as we were in the pench I had a very strong feeling to go visit this random house in the area that popped into my head. Me and Elder Healey had clapped there twice. I fought the feeling for a little but then realized it was the spirit. We went to the house, and this old couple came out and asked us why we had come, I straight up told them I had a very strong feeling to come. They let us in, and we taught them about trials and how Christ can help us through everything. The wife is going to be operated on in the near future, so they are worried about that. It was a great experience and we will see where they will go as investigators!!

Other investigators we have are doing alright... We teach a lot of first lessons and then it´s impossible to find them afterwards. So we´re gonna try to focus in on them this week. The area has some good potential but right now it´s going pretty slow. We have some investigators that are really cool.... they sell empanadas for their business. They know the church is true... but their situation economically right now is just really hard to get them to church and the Sabbath day... so we are gonna keep working with them. Last night they gave us a dozen of their empanadas, they were way good.

So that´s that. My son is doing good, he´s learning, going through everything a new missionary needs to go through, kinda fun to watch. This week we have a lot of meetings and trainings and stuff, it should go by way fast!!!

I´ve been reading John in the Bible to try to develop more christlike attributes. It´s amazing all the miracles Jesus did.... His life was truly spectacular and he did everything he needed to do. We should follow his examle and try to do all we can during our lives.

That´s pretty much it!! Have an amazing week!!

Another week in El Cerrito

I really enjoyed this week. It went by way fast, it definitely had it´s ups and downs, but, overall the week was great.

So last P Day we were playing basketball and Elder Bingham sprained his ankle, so we were limited for a few days, which always stinks. But then he got better and it was fine. Hopefully today he doesn´t sprain the other one haha.

On Friday Elder Tiexiera of seventy came down to San Rafael (he did 3 conferences for the mission). And gave us some good training on the work. I had to play the piano for that meeting so it was kinda nerve wracking but it all went well haha. Then afterwards we got lunch, which was some really good soup. Because....

The temperature has been dropping quite a bit... It´s been super cold every single day. Elder Bingham has seen THE SUN twice since he´s been in the country. Which really kinda stinks, cause winter is just starting. But oh well. Our Jackets, We´re Glad We´ve Got Em. So yeah. ColdColdCold.

We had some way solid lessons set up this week... But I don´t think I´ve ever had so many lesson appointments fall in one week...It was a little discouraging. on Saturday we had 2 way solid appointments, and even a member came with us. The first one, we showed up to the house and music was literally shaking the house, it was so loud. So we waited a little but it was obvious they didn´t really want to listen haha. So then we were walking to the other one, and I got a text fom the investigator that said he had to work. Dang. So it would´ve been really easy to just give up.. But we went to some other investigator´s house, and they had some family over and we were able to teach a lesson and give out some references. It was cool.

Other than that things are going really good. I´ve been reading the Bible a lot lately because I´m sick of people telling me at the door ´Come back when you read the Bible´ hahaah so I´ve been getting some good scriptures from like the Old Testament and stuff haha. So yeah. Elder Bingham is doing good, adjusting to the giant change it is living in Argentina. He´s a pretty solid cook, and he cleans stuff up which is always a good thing in companion. His training is flying by, but like always, you´ve gotta let your kids fly hahaha.

That´s pretty much it. Argentina is awesome. Although the mission is hard, attitude is all it takes to be happy. I love you all, have a great week!

I´m a Father. (And 10 months!!)

Well so this week was a very great week. Flew by. Like normal. Very busy with stuff as normal. So Monday was a pretty normal P Day and Elder Healey packed his bags and he departed on Tuesday morning. Also, Tuesday morning I had to go up to Mendoza.

So for Tuesday I was with Elder Nielsen, a guy from my group who is also training. Basically, we just had to be at the office pench at 9:00, so we had a lot of time to kill. I went back to Cementista and visited some members, it was way cool, and I could actually understand them, hahaha. We also went to one of elder nielsen´s old areas and visited some people there. then at nine we got to the office pench.

Wednesday morning we helped the office elders set up the stuff for the newbies. Then President Goates gave the trainers (we were 11) a short training meeting about this position, it was cool. So the incoming group was 8 latinos and 3 gringos, pretty cool.

So they had us take off our ties and then handed the ties to our sons and they had to find us... It was just like I did with Elder Leytton oh so long ago. It felt way weird to be on the other side of it. (side note: Elder Lybbert is also training so I got to hang out with him for the day.) So yeah.

My son is named Elder Bingham, he was one of the 3 incoming Gringos. It´s way crazy, because he is actually from RUSSIA, like holy crap!!! he got adopted when he was 8 and moved to Arizona, and then moved to Missouri. So he´s still technically gringo haha. But yeah. He´s way cool. We´ve been working way hard and I´ve been teaching him the ways of the mission. I even gave him the inheritance tie already. So things are going well there. He wrestled in high school and is pretty ripped. So on Wednesday we rode the bus home and got him settled in to El Cerrito, his birthplace hahah.

So we went to go teach an investigator we have named Jerusalén. We had a member and everything, and she let us in, everything was going well. So we are about to start and Jerusalén´s son starts barfing EVERYWHERE. I have never seen anyone throw up like that. So we had to cancel the lesson. As we were walking out I simply said to Elder Bingham, ´Welcome to Argentina´ hahahaha. How about that for day 1.

So we´ve been working hard and he´s quickly realized that knocking doors and getting rejected is a very common thing haha. Things are going great, and we managed to put a baptismal date on a family. That was good. Elder Bingham doens´t understand a whole lot, but that´s just something everyone has to go through, haha.

So that´s pretty much it... 10 months down. The mission only gets better. I´m excited for the future haha time flies down here. Anyway have a good week and you are all in my prayers!!!

Here we go.....

Alright so this week was pretty slow to say the least. But there were a couple of things that I forgot to mention last week that I´ll say now.

So, last week was the baptism of Baldy and Gero. Everything went really well, except one thing at the end... The drain to the font. There is a machine thingy that is supposed to suck up the water but it didn´t work.... So we spent 3 hours bucketing all the water out. It really built character haha. I have some pictures of that.

This week we had a zone meeting on Tuesday. We left the pench and it was super foggy... the foggiest I have ever seen in my life.  I hurried and snapped a picture too, so you can see that. You couldn´t see like anything.

There´s this street in our area called Adolfo Calle. It´s like the backbone of the area. So Elder Healey and I walked it until it ended. It took almost two hours, and at the end there was a gate. (We´ve nicknamed it "The Black Gate". And we saw a doorbell on the side, and rang it. Then this way cool guy named alejandro came out and we were pretty close to actually teaching him, but he was leaving pretty quickly so he couldn´t. It was exhausting walking all that way, but we found him nontheless haha.

As far as the area we´ve been looking a lot for investigators..Talking with lots of people and then trying to teach them. I guess the week after baptisms can be tough if you don´t really have many others progressing that great. But it´s all good. Elder Healey and I made a milanesa pizza AKA Ders pizza last week. It was way good and brought back old memories of Cementista.

So last night we got transfer calls and I am going to be training. I don´t really know how to feel about that but I´m pretty excited to say the least... I´m willing to do it.  Elder Healey is headed up to Guaymallen in Mendoza. So I won´t be getting my son until Wednesday or Thursday, because they´re not here yet..... So on Tuesday I´ll be going up to Mendoza and staying there for a few days while we wait for the newbies to get here. Then we have a bunch of training meetings and stuff, but I don´t really know yet. So it´ll be good. I´m excited.

And Skype was way awesome. It was great to see you all! Shoutout to mom for her Birthday and Mother´s day!! Although we had a few problems with the system it was good! Love you all!!

Have a great week!! (pictures are coming.)

Muchos Milagros

Well this week was really awesome. Full of many miracles. First thing´s first, we baptized Baldi and Gero on Saturday. The Baptismal service was a complete success. Lots of people came, I was pretty surprised. But I don´t think I´ve shared how they became investigators. So in December, Gerómino was diagnosed with some rare heart disease, and the family was struggling with finances, marriage, and a lot of other things. The wife, Vanesa, is baptized but hadn´t come to church since she was a teenager. So one Sunday, before I got to this area, they showed up at church. Baldi didn´t believe in God at the time. So basically we taught everything and he´s got a pretty solid testimony. So now they have the help of God, and Gero is going to Buenos Aires in 2 weeks to get operated on. So that´s the story.

That was pretty much all that happened this week that was noteworthy.  It´s been getting colder and colder every day, but we´ve got a nice little heater so it´s all good. Today for p day we are gonna make milanesa pizza with my district so that should be good. This transfer is almost over, so on Sunday I´ll be hearing about who my new comp is. El Cerrito is such a great area, if I leave I´m gonna be mad. Haha but anything could happen so we shall see.

I can´t believe we´re already in May!!! like I´ll be hitting a year in a couple months!! that´s way crazy. but like they say, time flies when you´re havin fun. The mission is hard, but you just gotta figure out how to make it fun.

That´s pretty much it... God loves you!!! Have a great week!!

Love,

Elder Anderson
